[00:00:03] Stig Brodersen: Every quarter, William and I discuss what has made us richer, wiser, and happier. In this episode, we talk about life designs. As you can tell, William and I approach our lives very differently, and the intention is not to tell anyone what to do. Rather, we intend to bring you along on our journey to explore how to live a life that’s aligned with your values so you can be the best version of yourself. [00:00:25] Stig Brodersen: We discussed the seemingly paradoxical idea that the opposite of a virtue is also a virtue because you want to say no to almost everything, to focus on what’s important to you. But on the other hand, you don’t always know what’s important before you’re on the middle of it. So you also want to say yes to the unknown, to let serendipity happen. [00:00:44] Stig Brodersen: In the second part of the conversation, we dive into our favorite books, ranging from the titans of literature to mathematical theorems and everything else in between. Thank you for joining William and Me in our quest for quality and meaningful relationships. [00:01:01] Intro: Since 2014 and through more than 180 million downloads, we’ve studied the financial markets and read the books that influenced self-made billionaires the most. We keep you informed and prepared for the unexpected. Now for your hosts, Stig Brodersen and William Green. [00:01:28] Stig Brodersen: Welcome to the Investors Podcast. I’m your host, Stig Brodersen and as always, for these rich, wiser, happier conversations, I’m joined by my co-host, William Green. William, how are you today? [00:01:38] William Green: I am very well, very happy to see you. Thank you for having me on again, making this happen. [00:01:44] Stig Brodersen: You bet. It’s always a lot of fun to chat with you. And the first topic here of today is life design and I, ugh. Yeah, it’s so what was that sound? It’s a sound that says like, we are about to do something. I’m not even sure if you could cover in a podcast episode. And not even that. Life design is one of the three topics I want to discuss today, William. [00:02:06] Stig Brodersen: So, I don’t know, it might be a 10 hour podcast. Let’s hope it won’t be, but it’s a big topic. How do you feel about talking about life design? [00:02:12] William Green: I’m always delighted to talk about life design. One of the things that comes through to me from thinking about this is the sense of challenge of how stunted I am in this area. [00:02:20] William Green: So it’ll be interesting, this will help me to think it through as well. Rather than set myself up as some sort of wise expert on this subject we’ll probably just be exposing my my lack of design. [00:02:31] Stig Brodersen: The intention is really to talk about deciding a life that’s true to a values, but sounds like an incredible ambitious project.
